Custom Models

Our custom models are a good starting point to get going on ordering a custom, below you can see four of our top models being the TwinPin, the Egg, the BigPin and the Angel Fish. Each have their own distinctive features and designs so take a look at each one and see what catches your eye! If none do, still reach out and we can start from complete scratch!

TwinPin

The TwinPin is our most popular model and the model that has been developed, tweaked and ridden the most here at SunnySide Surfboards. The TwinPin was first created in 2022 being the first "official" model of our line of boards.

The idea for the TwinPin was to create an all-around board for all kinds of waves from the smaller mushy stuff to the overhead clean days. It's designed for a more punchy point break and does well in open faces where it shows off it's smooth turning and speed. Crafting and designing boards here in Leucadia, California calls for having a very open mind with these designs as we don't get the best surf here at times so we have tested this design in different waters up the coast and most commonly tested in Santa Cruz, California which is where it really thrives!

We designed the TwinPin with the wide point pushed forward more towards the chest area, where you will find the most foam on the board. This allows for easy paddling and easy wave-catching especially on the smaller days. Recently as we've dove more into this design we added our infamous beak nose for design purposes. As far as the bottom which is where the real business is there is a double concave through the tail and about 1/3 of the way up the board this transitions into a flat bottom through the nose. This allows for the speed to still be present while being able to make those smooth open-face turns.

We design the TwinPin from 5'8 - 6'10 which allows for all kinds of surfers and waves depending on where you are!

Egg

Our Egg Model is one of our most versatile year round boards that strives in all conditions and waves. Ranging from 6'8 - 7'4 the egg comes with the 2+1 setup or single option which keeps the board tight but fun.

The Egg that we've designed has been tested and designed here on the South Coast of California in lots of smaller smooth waves that we see here going into summer. We've designed it to go really well in some choppier more weird waves as it pushes right through it. The wide point pushed forward slightly allowing for super easy paddle power and wave-catching. Our stock dimensions on this keep the model pretty thick throughout from nose to tail which is what makes the board so fun and use-friendly.

As far as the specific design elements the flow from the nose to tail is super smooth with a slightly flatter bottom and slightly smoother 55/45 rails which allow very smooth turning. We bumped up the tail rocker slightly as well to allow a more flowly turn off the tail in critical sections of the wave.

Overall, the Egg is one of our most user-friendly and smooth boards in our line of custom boards to work off. Usually shaped with some extra thickness this can be adjusted based on the surfers need and ability which is the fun part! Smooth turns and fighting through the chop with this model is a good description of what it can really do and thrive in.

From 6'8 - 7'4.

BigPin

The BigPin model is our glider design that is a super smooth easy to catch waves board. It's been quite shocking how easy it is to get into waves with this model. Again as you've probably noticed with most our design we pushed the wide point forward on this design towards the chest which is where most of the foam is hiding

Summer was definitley in mind with this model, it's slightly based off our Egg model but much more stretched out and a little more business happening on the bottom of the board. The deck is super smoothed out with a rolled over deck that allows for the board to have a constant flow through out. As far as the design on the bottom of the board it is pretty 50/50 on the railed but as you move towards the back of the tail it sharpens up as it also rolls into a double barrel concave through the tail with a slight flip in the tail. We again bumped up the tail rocker in this to allow a little more style of the tail on take off and for those sections where you need to trim through the wave.

The model is designed to be riddent towards the upper half of the board and for setting your line and trimming. Personally, this is one of my favorite models and is super user-friendly and easy to catch waves out the back. This model comes from 8'6-9'10 allowing for a really versatile choice. We like to call it out substitute for a longboard for the time being.

Angel Fish

Our Angel Fish is one of our newer models that is still making it's works through the design process and is being tweaked daily and each time it's surfed. With it being one our newest models this is what makes them super fun to shape as a custom! There are not any set dimensions and can be constantly tweaked depending on the surfers experience and ability and what they are looking for. As of now the board has been designed as a more summer like fish. Meaning that it's been working really well in the smaller stuff when you still want more control over your board.

Some of the deck design features emphasize a fun beak nose, wide point pushed forward, a deep swallow tail and a rolled out deck for most but can be a flat deck as well.

As far as the bottom of the board there is 60/40 rails throughout and as you get towards the tail it sharpens out which allows for the sharper and tighter turns for when the waves do steepen up a little and get some size. The fin boxes are set to run with keels but can be design to run with upright's which is yet to be tested yet.

We've designed this board to work in the 5'4 - 5'10 range depending on what you are looking for. Overall, another super fun and user-friendly board if your looking for something a little more retro and smaller as well this is great option!
